Luneta

Also known as Rizal Park, Luneta is one of the city’s premier attraction being the most famous park in the country. From its former name bagumbayan (new town) wherein Philippine’s national hero Jose Rizal was executed last 1896, Luneta is a great place of historic archives like the execution of the Gomburza in 1872, official proclamation of the country being a fully independent republic in 1946, a mass was held here by Pope John Paul in 1995, and the opening and closing of the 2005 Southeast Asian Games.

SM City Manila

One of the city’s premier shopping center, SM City Manila was built at the heart of the city beside the Manila City Hall catering a huge variety of goods for shoppers.

SM City Manila is owned and operated by the Shoemart chain of malls, the same group that runs Mall of Asia.

The mall’s exact location is at Concepcion corner Arroceros and San Marcelino Street near landmarks Post Office, Metropolitan Theater and the LRT central station which gives it easy access to everyone.

The Philippine Postal Corporation, (Filipino: Korporasyong Pilipino sa Koreo), abbreviated as Philpost, is a government-owned and operated corporation responsible for providing postal services in the Philippines. It has a total of 18,000 employees and runs more than 2,000 post offices. Philpost is based in the Philippines’s primary post office, the imposing Manila Central Post Office, which overlooks the Pasig River. It is presently under the authority of the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) as an attached agency. Its policy-making body is the Board of Directors composed of seven (7) members that include the Postmaster General who, at the same time, serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the corporation.

City Seal

The Seal of Maynila depicts the words Lungsod ng Maynila and Pilipinas, Filipino for City of Manila and Philippines, in a circle around a shield. The circle also contains six yellow stars representing the city’s six congressional districts. The shield, in the shape of pre-colonial people’s shield, depicts the city’s nickname Pearl of the Orient on top; a sea lion in the middle, in reference to the city’s Spanish influences; and the waves of the Pasig River and Manila Bay in the bottom portion. The colors of the seal mirror that of the Flag of the Philippines.
